A Danish ice hockey player will get his salary as Bitcoin.
A Danish ice hockey player became the first professional athlete to receive his salary only as Bitcoin.
Danish professional ice hockey player Nikolaj Rosenthal will now only pay his wages with the virtual money Bitcoin.
The Copenhagen-based Rungsted ice hockey team is staring at the idea of buying a star sportsman’s salary with Bitcoin, which is constantly changing in price.
“Yes, there is luck in your business, but I think it’s a revolution.” Rosenthal, who uses expressions to be part of all the opportunities he brings, “is confessing that he insured his salary against the risk of resetting the price of Bitcoin.
Denmark’s Rungsted ice hockey team is known as the ‘Bitcoin team’. Last December, the Swiss-based Bitcoin investment company sponsored the team and changed the name of the stadium to ‘Bitcoin Arena’.
Company officials think Bitcoin will be as widespread as gold in the future. The company, which sponsors the ice hockey team in Denmark, plans to establish a Bitcoin-like bank in the country as well as Bitcoin ATMs.
